Beware the couch. It beckons...

I managed to get in a workout this morning after being up until 12 last night doing homework. I did upper body weights and then had a nice 25 minutes swim. Today is insane. I need the energy boost. Seeing as I woke up today at the usual time I figured I couldn't be THAT tired...
I have a stats assignment due in an hour, which we just got some extra tips for this morning (yeah, that's the day it's due...you can tell my prof really doesn't have our course high up on her priority list) and I think I did it right but I'm not sure...what with not having all the info until this morning...*sigh*. And I have a mock ethics review after lunch which I think I'm ready for that is worth 1/4 of my grade......so we shall see. I really don't have enough time to devote to my classes like I'd like, so I feel all rushed and unprepared compared to the normal super overprepared me, but what can ya do? Things have to be done and I have not yet invented a time machine, so I'm doing my best. There's a physical limit to how late I can stay up some days, so I just do as much as I can.
I just want today to be over with so I can go home...and then get groceries... and vaccuum...and then...THEN I will sit on the comfy couch with teh kittehs.
Oh yes.
There will be much sitting.
And likely falling asleeping, but hey. S'allright :)

Mondays seem to get longer every week.

Whew! Yesterday was loooooong. I walked home form work with J at 8, and made some supper at 9. THEN I had homework. Thankfully, my loverly J rubbed my very sore back and today it feels fine. My knee didn't get annoyed even with all that walking (~3km) after a long day. That pleased me very much. Maybe I really am strengthening it slowly. I hope so.
I went swimming this morning and it was tough but good. I used the flippers for most of it and focused on moving my knee properly and it didn't give me any issues at all. Yeah! :)
AND I checked the scale today and I'm back to 129. Another yeah!

So...in the end, I am insanely busy, but I feel OK.
Tonight is grocery night. We're going to get TONNES of healthy stuff for meals and snacks. It's funny-with me being so busy J is now having time to workout after work as well, so he's feeling better too. We're both making efforts to be healthy and it feels good.
I've just gotta keep it together until the end of the semester.

Later taters...

and tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow

Well, I'm back again. I left here at 9:30 and am back again at 7AM for another long day. Sheesh.

My knee is still stiff from that stupid spin bike, so it's getting one more day of relaxing before I give it a go at swimming tomorrow. That should give me a bit of a guage to see if I need to lay off again until monday or if I can try some cycling on friday. We shall see.

I am encouraged. Once again I stepped on the scale. Not being at the gym I was actually home for a long hot leisurely shower and was curious. I tried to ignore it but I ended up stepping on the scale - and wouldn't you know it? 128.5. Lowest...well ever, in my adult life.

Apparently when you are insanely busy and only stopping for meals to cram food in your mouth and keep going it's easier to lose weight. As a nibbler I usually snack away at calories. Having healthy meals packed has basically taken that out of the equation lately - I've not have any time for nibbles. Just focusing on eating healthy and no crap. Guess that works :)
source which I totally do NOT endorse...it's stupid and crazy to fast like that. The toon just made me laugh and I just finished a lecture on plagiarism so I feel like I have to reference everything!

I'm encouraged that in all the insanity of things I'm doing (it's gonna be another 14 hour day today) I am NOT overeating to fend off stress. If anything it's a challenge to make sure I eat enough and drink 8 glasses of liquid a day - which I'm making sure I do.
Time for another day! Have a good one everyone :)

Meh

So it turns out the crap bike in spin class did leave my knee with a bit of a twinge after and it still hinted at me of slight stiffness this morning so I plan on taking a few days off to be gentle to it. I have no desire to be limping about when a few days rest is all it needs (knock on wood). This morning I just came into work instead of working out. Which is bad, but yet good as I am insanely-beyond-it-all busy.

How busy?
Well, I was in here at 7AM and it's 7:45PM and I still have about an hour left to do before I can go hop on the bus to go home and nom some supper and flop into bed.

Wait...what am I even doing here?
Buh bye!

Confucious say man who puts nose to grindstone wears out nose...

In on my day off. Woo. I should get to things and stop procrastinating. Yesterday was a LONG day...12+ hours at work, starting an hour early...by the time I got home at 8 I was exhausted...but still happy. GO figure :).
My lovely J took me out for Burmese food and after some coconut rice and curried veg with a beer I felt fabulous.
Today it's back at the lab, but I get a haircut and colour late this afternoon...can't wait. I haven't had my haircut since before the funeral...it's way past time. I just haven't been able to fit it in. And my hair needs a new colour...it's boring my dahlings. Simply will not do...
Yesterday was the day off to do something day of the Core performance...and I took nearly 13 hours on my feet as my workout du jour.
This AM despite my bodies cries for more sleep I was up at 5:30 and did the Strength workout of the Core performance workout again...felt good. I seem to have a bit more balance...maybe I"ll get less stiff this time. I can hope right? :)
Today is work hard and then a whole evening off with J. Lovely. I have to work (boo) tomorrow again, but it allows me to get out of a wedding I didn't really want to go to. Poor J has to go alone...but I'll be stuck in the lab so I figure it's a fair trade off.
Busy busy. Me me.
And yet...life is good.
Yes indeedy.
Happy weekend to all of you :)

busy weekend again

This weekend was BUSY. So much so that I should use a bigger font. :)
It was a lot of fun though.

The annual Hindu society vegetarian banquet was a lot of fun. Rani dressed us up in beautiful saris again and the curries were delish. The one I wore this year was red and brown with gold and it looked very nice on me...once I get around to dumping photos off the camera I'll have to post a few. Completely as a surprise (bwaha) I won the 50-50 draw at the banquet! $Squee$! My friend Mitch screamed out when I won and scared me actually - I thought she won...I usually don't win anything and I buy a ticket because the money raised that year goes to a charity (This year it was the Broken Wing Society - a house for disabled children in Haiti)...so that was definitely a cool thing. I used a bit of my new-found cash to bid on a silent auction item (a pair of amazing white tortoiseshell sunglasses that I really really wanted, but couldn't justify $90 for...until that point) and the rest (mee hee) will go towards our now, for sure happening, fall trip to England for our anniversary. Squee.
Sunday was a baby shower - and lots of nibbles and visiting...and the rest of the time involved multigrain pancakes and lots of work on my MSc report and MSc project. This morning I had been up past midnight working on my paper and so I tapped snooze one too many times. I had the oddest dream about me and a talent show and a chicken (yup...it really was that weird)...and didn't workout, but I am awake and have a LONG day ahead of me, so I'm thinking it was the right choice. I won't even get home tonight from work until late and then I have a lot of work to do after that before I can sleep...so it's good to not be tired today.
You know, I remember working two jobs while being in school...how did I do it?
This is exhausting :)
